Products / TellHawk Signal API
For developers
The same signals, as one JSON call.
The Signal API returns a composite score for a US-listed ticker, built from squeeze pressure, insider activity and the current macro regime, with the reasoning spelled out. One key, plain REST.
- REST and JSON
- Free tier, no card
- Every tier returns the same data

What it is
TellHawk Signal API, explained.
The Signal API combines three TellHawk signals into one response per ticker: a squeeze score (short interest that is slow to cover), an insider score (recent insider buying and selling) and the macro regime with its equity bias. You get the composite score and signal, each component, a list of plain-language reasons, and the time it was computed.
Keys are self-serve from the developer portal: enter your email, generate a key, and call the API. Paid tiers add request-rate and monthly-call headroom only; every tier gets the same signal data.
Who it is for
Developers building dashboards
You want squeeze and insider context for a ticker inside your own tool without scraping filings.
Quant hobbyists and researchers
You want a consistent, explained score to join onto your own model or screen.
Small teams
You need a documented endpoint with usage visible per key, not a data licence negotiation.
Key features
What it does today.
One call, three signals, explained
GET one ticker, or batch up to 20 in a single request. Each response carries the composite signal and score, the squeeze, insider and macro components, a reasoning list and a computed-at timestamp.
- Components that cannot be computed come back empty rather than invented
- Every response includes a disclaimer field: scores describe data conditions, not recommendations
- Examples for curl, Python, JavaScript and Node in the portal

curl -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY" \
https://developers.tellhawk.com/api/signals/AAPL
# Batch, up to 20 tickers
curl -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY" \

}Key management portal
List your keys, see total and monthly calls and the last 24 hours by endpoint, and revoke a key. A new key is shown once.
Predictable limits
Free: 5 requests a minute and 100 calls a month. Paid tiers raise the rate and monthly quota; they do not unlock different data.
Pay only if you need headroom
Paid tiers check out through Stripe with no sales call.
How it works
4 steps, from first look to result.
A real screen capture of TellHawk Signal API.
Open the developer portal
Go to developers.tellhawk.com and enter your email to load your keys.

Generate a key
Pick the Free tier and a display name. Copy the key when it is shown; it is not shown again.
Call the endpoint
Send the key in the X-API-Key header to /api/signals/{ticker}, or batch up to 20 tickers.

The portal lists the endpoints and shows a sample request and response.
Watch your usage
Use the portal to see calls against your monthly quota and which endpoints you hit.
Limits
What to know before you use it.
- There is one current signal per ticker. Per-ticker signal history and saved-watchlist endpoints are not available.
- Coverage is US-listed tickers. The signal values (strong_buy to strong_sell) are labels for data conditions, not trading advice.
- Underlying data is refreshed nightly, not streamed.
- Free-tier limits are enforced: 5 requests a minute and 100 calls a month.
