Invite-only

Find out how a strategy would have met the challenge rules.

ProofRunner takes a strategy and a funded-challenge rule set (profit target, daily loss, maximum drawdown, time limit), replays the strategy through real history against those rules, and shows how often it would have passed and exactly how it failed. Access is by invitation.

ProofRunner's Challenge Simulator after a run on SPY with a 20/50 moving-average crossover against an FTMO-style rule profile: a Read this first warning rating sample confidence as low, pass and breach rates from real historical starts and from resampled trade sequences, and a strip of start dates

A real run (SPY, 20/50 moving-average crossover, 10 years). It passed 0% of the time, and the page says why and how little a sample of 20 trades proves.

What it is

ProofRunner, explained.

ProofRunner is a research and automation tool for people who trade funded-challenge accounts. Its free Challenge Simulator runs a moving-average crossover or RSI mean-reversion strategy over real daily price history, then replays a challenge two ways: from every historical start date, and from thousands of resampled trade sequences. You see the share of runs that passed, the share that breached each rule, and how deep the account dipped.

The same app can connect a broker account and send orders through a gate: the pre-trade risk check, the firm's rule profile and a per-account uniqueness check must all pass first. Orders go to demo accounts unless live placement is switched on, and it is not switched on today. ProofRunner is not affiliated with or endorsed by any prop firm or broker; firms are named only to describe the rule profiles it models.

Who it is for

Challenge candidates

You want to know, before paying for an attempt, whether your strategy could even reach the target inside the time limit without breaching a loss rule.

Systematic traders

You run rules, not hunches, and want the failure modes (daily loss, drawdown, too slow) spelled out rather than one pass rate.

Skeptics

The simulator opens with its own limits: sample confidence is rated, and a small sample is flagged as unreliable on the screen.

Key features

What it does today.

Replay the challenge two ways

Pick one of three firm rule profiles (FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers), or edit the target, daily loss, drawdown, window and minimum trading days yourself. The strategy runs on real daily history, then the challenge is replayed from every historical start date and from 2,000 seeded resamples of its trades.

  • Strategies: moving-average crossover or RSI mean reversion; 1, 3, 5 or 10 years of history
  • Outcomes are broken out: passed, daily loss breached, drawdown breached, target not reached in time, too few trading days
  • The Monte Carlo is seeded, so the same inputs give the same answer

A confidence rating and a list of limits, up front

Every result opens with a Read this first box: a sample-confidence rating, warnings (for example, how many start dates saw no trade at all) and the assumptions behind the numbers.

  • A small trade count is called unreliable instead of dressed up as a probability
  • Daily loss is approximated from closed trades, so it is optimistic; the box says so
  • A symbol with no data is reported as such, never swapped for another

A gated order pipeline, demo first

With a connected account, every order has to clear the pre-trade risk check, the firm rule profile and the per-account uniqueness check before it reaches the broker. Each decision is logged with its reason.

  • Orders go to demo accounts only unless live placement is enabled on the server
  • Free accounts include up to 3 demo accounts; Pro covers live accounts and more accounts
  • A platform the firm profile does not allow is blocked, and the decision log shows why

Brokers: cTrader (rolling out)

The cTrader connection is built and tested. It depends on the platform vendor approving our app, which is still pending, so it is rolling out and not generally available.

Brokers: TradeLocker (coming)

A TradeLocker adapter exists and is tested against its published reference. Connecting your own TradeLocker account is not available: it needs a safe way to handle broker logins, which is still being decided. No TradeLocker password is collected anywhere.

Firm rule profiles

Three profiles (FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers) with target, loss limits, allowed platforms and banned strategy types. Firms change their rules and offer several challenge types, so check the firm's current terms; every field in the simulator is editable.

Data coverage

US stocks and ETFs, major indices, futures, BTC-USD and daily FX reference rates (EUR-USD, GBP-USD, USD-JPY). Spot-forex symbols such as EURUSD=X are not loaded, and the simulator says so rather than substitute.

How it works

5 steps, from first look to result.

  1. Request an invite

ProofRunner is open by invitation. Apply from the home page or write to us, and mention ProofRunner and what you trade.

  2. Choose a strategy and a rule profile

Pick a strategy and ticker, a firm profile (or your own limits), and how much of each trade you risk.

  3. Run the simulation

The strategy is backtested on real history, then the challenge is replayed from every start date and from resampled trade sequences.

  4. Read the warnings before the pass rate

Check the sample confidence, the failure breakdown and the assumptions. A pass rate from 20 trades is a hint, not a probability.

  5. Optionally connect a demo account

Connect a demo account to see how orders and rule tracking behave behind the gate. Live placement is off.
